Sometimes when the news gets too depressing, I remind myself to turn off the computer and get outside and enjoy the many gifts that God has given me:  the warmth of sunshine, the fragrance of flowers and the beauty of tiger swallowtails flitting about my garden.  Even the whine of the inevitable mosquito reminds me that life is short (especially for them) and to focus on what’s important.

This tiger swallowtail was especially cooperative and hung around long enough for me to sketch her.  There are two forms of the female tiger swallowtail-black and the common yellow-both with a beautiful blue color on their hind wings.
