On Saturday, the Great Lakes chapter of the Guild of Natural Science Illlustrators (GNSI) met at the Oak Park Conservatory, a little jewel of a garden in an urban environment.  We were able to see fellow member Kathleen Garness’ paintings of rare plants including lots of native IL orchids.  We also toured the conservatory and outside gardens and spent some time sketching in the relaxing atmosphere.  I found more cardinal flowers in a dry, shady spot and tried once again to capture them-this time with a dark background…a fun time was had by all!
