Stillman Nature Center in South Barrington, IL invited photographers from all over to view and photograph their owls and other birds of prey last weekend. They had each bird in a natural setting outside with a handler to help keep the birds calm. All of the birds were used to people and cameras and were well-prepared to handle the hordes of photographers that descended upon the nature center.
The opportunity was only open for an hour and a half, late in the afternoon, to catch the warm light and nice shadows. Fortunately, there was some sun for at least part of the time and it was actually above freezing. These are birds that are unable to be released back into the wild and this opportunity was used to raise funds for their care. In that respect, I was glad that it was crowded. Here are the results of my trip-enjoy!
