Nothing annoys me more than lugging all my sketching supplies around and not actually sketching. Especially when it’s hot…and humid. After nearly using up all my time photographing butterflies at the Mercer Botanic Gardens, near Houston, Texas, I was determined to find something to sketch, preferably in the shade. I found a neat looking arch that led into a rare plants exhibit and decided to sketch that. I did very little pencil work and plunged right into watercolor to try to capture the stonework. Once I got home, I added some pen and ink for more definition. Next time maybe I will try sketching first! Enjoy!
