With all the rain earlier this summer, my garden grew very lush and tall and rather wild-looking. This hasn’t seemed to bother the insects and wildlife any and I’ve been immensely grateful to have seen many more butterflies this year than in recent years. There’s a patch of Monarda, or bee balm, in my yard that is very attractive to hummingbirds, moths and swallowtail butterflies. After spending hours near it, I’ve finally managed to get some decent shots of each. As an artist, I use photos for reference not only for the creature, but also potentially for the background. I also loved the color schemes in some of these. Enjoy!
