Exactly ten days after my large caterpillar went into his chrysalis, it went clear and you could see the wing patterns clearly.
I wasn’t sure when it would emerge and ended up sketching it to help the time pass.
Seven hours into my vigil, I decided to let the dog out, quickly, and came back two minutes later to see the monarch hanging from the skin of the chrysalis. I think he was just waiting for me to leave! I scrambled to get some video and pictures, and while not perfect, they do give some of the wonder of the process. Enjoy!
