Fall is a beautiful time of year, not only for the profusion of leaf color, but for the passage of monarchs through the garden. The flitting orange butterfly contrasts beautifully with the muted blues and purples of the asters and provides a spark of interest in the landscape. Their wings are incredibly flexible when taking off from a flower and they’re very quick and hard to catch flying in a photo. Enjoy!
Love those monarchs!
They are beautiful, aren’t they?
Love those Monarchs!
Yes!
Beautiful!
Thanks, Peter!
Beautiful pictures with orange and deep lavender!
Yes, the combination of flowers made for a pretty background…
Loved the garden monarch 4 and 1 pictures, really beautiful. Mary’s comment, this is one of the rare times that God used the blue and orange, purple and yellow and green & red together in your pictures. Thanks for the pictures.
I’m glad you enjoyed them!
They are very striking next to the blue/purple asters! I will have to grow some of those next year.
So wonderful, and fab shots!
Our Milkweed bush (year 2) has self propagated. Hopefully it will be a lusher patch next year, and we will see Monarchs. There was a couple flitting about this summer, but no babies.
You’re so lucky!
I do feel lucky myself to have even seen the adults! I didn’t find any caterpillars either and I saw females laying eggs!
Yes, eggs!!!!!!
Very impressive contrast of colors in these beauties. Good job getting all these incredible shots too. I often try for butterflies, damsel flies, etc, but they seem to be terrified of me and fly off at the earliest chance!
Thanks! Try moving very slowly or even holding still for a while so that they can get used to you-sometimes it helps! Other times it doesn’t 🙂
Patience has never been my strength lol
Not mine either but exercising it does seem to help, plus loving the subject 🙂
