With the return of warmer temperatures, finally, to our region, plants and animals are starting to come to life. Everywhere I went, birds were singing, frogs were chirping and bees were buzzing. Later, Cindy Crosby, a naturalist with a gift for writing (check out her blog-Tuesdays in the Tallgrass), took a group on a hike around the prairie and surrounding woods to discover signs of life. It’s amazing what her experienced eye sees. I took some time afterwards to sketch the super fuzzy pasque flower. This is truly my favorite time of year. Enjoy!
Wonderful sights of Spring, Karen!
Thanks, Peter! It is wonderful to have spring back again!
WooHoo, Yea Spring! Beautiful photographs and the sketch, wonderful. Thank you for sharing your gifts.
Thanks, OC!
Indeed– this is a great time of year. Things start to unfold so fast that its hard to keep up. Thanks for sharing what you are seeing on the prairie. Nice!
I know what you mean. Especially if it gets warm, flowers are here and gone before you know it!
Nice pictures, I really like your Pasque Flowers sketch. Excellent macro of the Bee.
Thanks, Shawn! I wish I’d had more time with it, but at least I captured the fuzziness which was my favorite part.
Beautiful photos, Karen! I also love your sketch of the Pasque Flower. Spring has sprung here but after three or four days of warmth last week we are back to winter temperatures again.
Oh no! That is so sad…did it freeze the flowers? I hope not. We’re finally getting some warm temps this week, I hope they stay.
Fortunately the flowers haven’t been damaged as it didn’t get below freezing though we have gale-force winds tonight and I don’t think we will have much tree-blossom left afterwards! I hope your warm weather continues.
Me too!
You have gotten to be an amazing painter. I mean you were always really good, but now, it seems you have reached another pinnacle.
Thank you, Resa! I have my doubts most days, but I appreciate the encouragement very much!
